Forget SMS...Brain to brain communication is here!

Imagine

Imagine if we could communicate with one another simply by using thought; a two way brain-to-brain messaging system.

Well, according to neuroscientist Miguel Nicolelis, his particular experiments and the world of neuroscience have made some pretty epic recent breakthroughs.

In the words of Miguel, the possible implications of his experiments will "go to the limit of your imagination".

Imagine...

Real-time Virtual Choir - Where Technology Meets Music

Pioneer - "A person who is the first to 'develop or be the first to use or apply (a new method, area of knowledge, or activity)."

I admire Pioneers. Through their innovation, passion and creative thinking they push the boundaries of what was thought possible, and in doing so open the door of opportunity for others.

Being an avid music fan, I have always admired the composer and conductor Eric Whitacre. For me, Eric is best known his innovative use of technology to create a 'Virtual Choir'. That is, a choir collectively made up of thousands of people from across the globe.

The Evolution of the Music Industry in a few Infographics

Music is everything to me, and also to a lot of people in the world. I work with it on, I exercise with it on, I chill with it on, I write and perform it with my friends whenever I can, and I go to gigs and festivals. The point is, music is big business with huge demand, and as an avid music fan, I want to listen to as much of it as I can, whilst also financially benefiting the artist themselves.

Over recent years, there has been a HUGE paradigm shift to the way we initially get music, listen to it, and then share with our friends, and this is exciting for a music lover. The key culprit for this is.........Digital.

From the medium, storage, and distribution of music to the huge and influential role that social media now plays in the music industry, below are a few interesting music related infographics. The common and completely unsurprising theme in all of them is how the rise digital has completely and utterly changed the music industry, from a commercial and consumer consumption perspective.

On a side note....as much as I love digital and all the opportunities it has given, I still argue that nothing beats the sound of vinyl, may we never lose this!

50 things you may not do anymore due to technology

It's amazing how quickly technology has evolved in the last 100 years, where routine tasks of the not-so-distant past have been replaced with automation, and where faster-quicker-better is the philosophy. Convenience, efficiency and effortless tasks for this generation replace a weekly chore for the older generation. Famous mathematician Vernor Vinge called this exponentially accelerating change, which basically means "accelerating progress leading to the emergence of more and more sophisticated technologies separated by shorter and shorter time intervals, until a point beyond human comprehension is reached. "

Whilst I am outrageously dependent on technology and all for convenience and removing the laborious tasks from my life, I can't help but feel slightly melancholy when looking down at the infographic below by Mozy. From video tape, to making mix cassettes, to written letters, and using the public phone box. Perhaps we are, at times, too reliant and focused on technology. Did life used to be simpler and seem more personal? Are we a lot more productive and connected now? It's probably a bit of both.

Apple iPhone 5: Everything You Need to Know

And so here it is, the much anticipated new IPhone 5. The reviews such as the one featured here by Gizmodo seem pretty positive. All in all incremental improvements across the board including weight (it weighs less), camera (better and more features including panorama feature), battery (lasts longer), CPU (quicker / better). Good full review by Gizmodo. Have been informed by a friend in the know on mobile @stobbsc that there is an inaccuracy in their report RE it being the thinnest smartphone or LTE phone. The Motorola Driod Razor is 7.1mm

The new iPhone 5 is here. It's thinner and faster than ever, with a new form factor that uses a gorgeous panoramic screen with more resolutions and less consumption. It also surfs the web much faster, thanks to its new LTE capabilities. And, just as we knew, it has a new smaller dock connector called Lightning.
Overall, it seems they have incrementally improved every single aspect of the iPhone. It's not a revolutionary phone, but it is a very nice release.
The iPhone 5 looks exactly as the leaked images: an unibody aluminum body with a glass screen. "It's thinner than the previous generation: 18 percent thinner, which puts it at 0.29 inches (7.6 millimeter). They are claiming this is the world's thinnest smartphone. It's actually the world's thinnest LTE smartphone.
